This past weekend, the Lakeway/Lake Travis Rotary Club proudly hosted our annual Adoption Awareness Event in partnership with Child Protective Service and it was nothing short of extraordinary.

Over the years, this event has helped more than 60 children make meaningful connections with potential adoptive families. This year, we welcomed 35 children currently in the foster care system, each with the opportunity to meet pre-vetted families in a setting intentionally designed to feel safe, joyful, and full of possibility.

Rather than a traditional meet-and-greet, the day unfolded as a vibrant carnival, filled with laughter, games, and shared moments that allowed genuine connections to form naturally. It was powerful to witness children simply being kids, and families engaging with them in ways that felt authentic and unforced.

The heart of this event was made even stronger by the incredible support of our Rotary family. More than 20 of our members, along with several dedicated Interact students, volunteered their time and energy to bring the day to life. They created an atmosphere that was welcoming, fun, and filled with care.

While we are still awaiting formal outcomes, one thing is certain: meaningful connections were made. You could see it in the smiles, the conversations, and the moments that lingered just a little longer than expected. These are the beginnings of something truly life-changing.
Each child left the event with a duffle bag of their choosing. It was an important detail that allowed them to express their individuality. Inside, they found thoughtfully curated items including Target and Amazon gift cards, a cozy blanket, a water bottle, and school supplies. These are small comforts meant to remind them that they are seen, valued, and supported.

This event is a reflection of Rotary’s commitment to “Service Above Self,” and a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with purpose and heart.

We are incredibly grateful to our partners, volunteers, and supporters who made this day possible and we look forward to continuing this meaningful work in the years ahead.
